I can’t really claim to have known Wilf that well. He was the first model I drew after my long hiatus in Japan, and over the years I think I, and every other Cumbrian artist, must have drawn him scores of times. He was always reliable, always went the extra mile with his poses, and the backbone of life classes in Cumbria for years.
Sadly, he passed away suddenly last week at the far too young age of sixty five. It’s a shock to everyone who knew him, as he was always so incredibly fit, and put many a younger man to shame with his strength and stamina.
From his obituary;
